Pauline Simmons

Pauline Simmons was born October 14, 1908 to the late Charles and Pearl Rachel Breeden in Owen County, KY. On December 9, 2011 at the age of 103, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, surrounded by family and friends, she peacefully returned to our heavenly Father. The most special and extraordinary people defy categorization and easy description, and this would be Pauline. Above all, her faith and her family brought her the greatest joy and pleasure. She also enjoyed tending her beautiful flowers, was an avid reader and never passed up a chance to show everyone in the family that even at her age she could still out fish them. To know her was a blessing and her quick wit, big smile, and wisdom inspired us all. She was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Carrollton and a life long farmer. Pauline was a cherished mother, grandmother and friend, and will be dearly missed.

On Sept. 4th, 1926 she was united in marriage to Johnnie Simmons who preceded her in death in 1994. Also preceding her in death, daughter, Minnie Mitchell, sons Douglas, Harold and Carroll D. Simmons, Sisters , Virginia Simmons and Christine Bell, brothers, Bert and Charles Breeden, grandsons Danny Simmons and David Mitchell, and granddaughters, Kimberly S. Willhoite and Pricilla Faye Ward. Surviving are her daughter, Thelma Ward of and son Vernon (Joan) Simmons, both of Carrollton, a daughter-in-law, Karen Simmons of Carrollton, 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Pauline is also survived by a host of extended family and friends, with special thanks to those who gave loving care and support.

A celebration of Pauline's life was held Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Haynes officiating the service and Mr. Herb Kinman and Mrs. Robin Welch providing the eulogy. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, KY.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to Hospice of Bluegrass of Northern Kentucky, a charity of the donor's choice, or a kindness shown to a family in need.
