Portia Stangle

Portia Ann Stangle, 70, of Carrollton, KY, died on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville, KY.

She was born on December 19, 1951, in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY, the daughter of the late Lawrence Edward “Chalk” Gividen and Margaret Ellen Tomlinson Gividen.  Portia had formerly worked as a Registered Nurse for many years at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital.  She always loved helping people and it showed in the love and care she gave her patients, family, and friends.  She was a member of the Family Worship Center in Carrollton.  Some of her favorite activities included listening to music, reading her Bible, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Portia will be missed by her four daughters, Jeannie (Buddy) Rohrer of Warsaw, KY, Connie (John) Roberts of Perry Park, KY, Dawn Stangle (Ian Rowe) of Madison, IN, and Tessa Moore of Milton, KY, three brothers, Donnie “Buck” Gividen (Pat Steinhardt) of Madison, IN, Bobby (Rose) Gividen of Louisville, KY, Mike (Tina) Gividen of Carrollton, KY,  sister, Jaynie Hayes of Madison, IN, five grandchildren, Ashlea Beckham, Britny Brewer, Jonathan Roberts, Matthew Crawford and Christopher Moore, five great grandchildren, Tyler Beckham, Landen Ramsey, Braxton Brewer, Brynlee Brewer and Troy Rowe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Wanda Baker and Connie “Peaches” Gividen, a brother, Harry Gividen, two brother-in-laws, Des Baker and Billy Hayes, a nephew, Michael Lane “Mikey” Gividen, Jr. and a niece, Leslie Tharp.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
