Randy Lee Rowland, 59, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his residence in Carrollton.
He was born on December 31, 1957 in Abilene, Kansas, the son of the late Charles Edward Rowland and Ruth Jean (Palmer) Rowland. He had earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, Oklahoma and a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Louisville. He retired in 2008, as a Special Education Teacher, he had taught school at Carroll County High School, Richard B. Cartmell Elementary School, Kathryn Winn Primary School and last at Carroll County Middle School. Before working in education, he had done general construction work. He had served his country proudly in the United States Army as a Medic. He was a member of the Kentucky Education Association and the National Education Association and a former member of the American Legion Post #41 in Carrollton. He was known as a "Man of Faith".
He will be missed by his wife of 36 years, Connie (Wolf) Rowland of Carrollton, Kentucky, two sons, Ryan A. Rowland, and his fiance' Sierra Ritchie of Carrollton, Kentucky and Kyle Matthew Rowland also of Carrollton, Kentucky, a daughter, Laura Marie Rowland of Carrollton, Kentucky, a brother, Rick Rowland of San Antonio, Texas, two sisters, Sharilyn Hutson of Birch Tree, Missouri and Jeanie Esckilsend of San Antonio, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post #41 of Carrollton at the funeral home on Thursday following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Carroll County Special Olympics in care of the funeral home.
The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
A Memorial Service will be on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Barth officiating the service.
Cremation has been chosen by the family.
