Retha Jean Simmons

Retha Jean Simmons, age 81, of Carrollton, KY passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, at U of L Hospital in Louisville, KY.  She was born on December 30, 1941, in Fairview, Carroll County, KY to James Edward and Mary Elizabeth Huffman Beach. A 1960 graduate of Gallatin County High School.  Retha was of the Baptist faith, was a homemaker, and had delivered the Madison Courier for many years. She farmed with her husband and enjoyed reading, painting by number, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Left to mourn her passing are two daughters; Delaine Delehanty (Mike) of Milton, KY, and Carlotta Yvonne Simmons of Louisville, KY, a sister; Dottie June (Eddie) Wright of Carrollton, KY, two grandchildren she raised; Jeremy (Tabby) Tharp of Louisville and Sidney (Quentin) Tharp of Bedford, KY, and helped raise Brenda and Micah, six great-grandchildren; Kyla Roland, Quinn, Trinity, Kashtyn, Kennedy and Kenna.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Billy Carl Simmons (1994), four sisters; Grace Ellen Butters, Patty Osborne, Wanda Wetherford and Barbara Perkins, and two brothers; James Samuel Beach and Robert Harold Beach.
