Rhonda Suzanne ” Susie“ Humphries, born on April 20, 1948, in Linton, Greene County, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, in Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 76.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett Lloyd Catt and Ruth Pauline Abel Catt; her husband, Cecil Monroe Humphries; her sister, Nancy Ruth Burris; and her brother, John Everett Catt.
Susie dedicated her life to caring for others, serving as a registered nurse at Cumberland Hall in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, for several years. Her commitment and compassion were evident in all her professional endeavors, reflecting her passion for the nursing profession.
Susie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, a testament to her dedication to her field and her desire to provide the highest level of care to her patients.
She found joy in cooking for our very large family and was great at it. She loved going to bingo, the slot machines, and playing any games that involved spending time with her sisters laughing.
Susie is survived by her children, Stephen Joseph Jean (Wayne Elliott) of Indianapolis, Indiana; Kenny Wayne (Dianne) Humphries of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Gay Ann (Mark) Wunder of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Nicole Williams (Jerry Jackson) of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; and Andrew Paul (Cristi) Westrich of Carrollton, Kentucky
She cherished her role as a grandmother “Mamaw” to her grandchildren: Christopher Beck, Josh Humphries, Britney Hale, Luke Jean, Wade Terry, Taylor Orlando, Danielle Wunder, Megan Armstrong, Matthew Thomas, Samantha West, Wyatt Thomas as well as her twenty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Susie is also survived by her three sisters, who she loved dearly, Margaret Fredwell of Brownsburg, Indiana, Linda City of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Jennifer Maloney of Harrisburg, Illinois, along with many nieces and nephews.
Susie leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and loyalty that will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family and friends will hold her memory close to their hearts, cherishing the love and joy she brought into their lives. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
Formal services will be held later date and will be announced by the family.
