Richard Lucas

Richard Wayne Lucas, 62, of Ghent, KY., died on Friday morning, April 17, 2009 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was born on May 10, 1946 in Covington, Kenton County, KY., the son of the late Gayle and Bessie Lee Allen Lucas of Carrollton, KY. Richard was a farmer and a retired Master Sergeant having served twenty two years in the United States Air Force. He graduated from the Air Force Police Academy on the 25th of May 1965. He was a graduate of the Air Force Recruiting School on the 17th of May 1974, he graduated Leadership School on the 9th of November 1978 and a graduate of the Air Force Training Command Non Commissioned Officers Academy on the 25th of September 1981. During his Military Career he was a two time recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal, he was twice awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.
After his Military career he was mayor of the town of Worthville, KY., a former member of the Worthville Volunteer Fire Department and he was also a commissioned Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of the Worthville Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
Richard will be missed by his wife; Patricia Jane Arnold Lucas, two daughters; Jeana (Lonnie) Platt of Crestwood, KY., and Angela (Jerry) Dermon of Carrollton, KY.,his mother; Bessie Lee Lucas of Carrollton, KY., two brothers; Howard David Lucas of Cincinnati, OH., and Thomas Jerry Lucas of Carrollton, KY., and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and two infant brothers; Larry & Gary Lucas.
Funeral Services were on Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Worthville Baptist Church. Burial was in the Dallasburg Masonic Cemetery.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Worthville Baptist Church Building Fund.
The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
