Robert "Bob" Young, Jr.

Robert Henry “Bob” Young, Jr., 89, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 3, 2021, in Louisville, KY.

Bob is survived by his 6 children, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Hackett Young, grandsons, Hunter and Ross, and his sister, Barbara Morgan.

Bob was born at home on the farm in Carroll County on December 28, 1931, to parents Robert H. Young, Sr. and Martha Gullion Young.

In 1949, Bob joined the military and served in the Korean War with the United States Army Corps of Engineers until 1952.

In 1955, Bob accepted a position with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District with whom he retired with more than 35 years of service.

Bob was a social, active man, who was involved in all aspects of farming and was a member of the Kentucky Farm Bureau since 1975. Bob served as Carroll County Kentucky Farm Bureau President from 1989 to 2012 and Vice President from 2013 to 2018.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. at the Carrollton United Methodist Church.  Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Carrollton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Devin Olachea officiating the service.  Burial will take place in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, KY.  The American Legion Post #41 will provide Military Honors at the graveside.
