December 22, 1930 — January 28, 2013

Ronald L. Sharp, 82, died on Monday, January 28, 2013 in his beloved Carrollton, KY.

Mr. Sharp was born on December 22, 1930 in Pendleton, Ky., to the late Harry and Ardenia Sharp of Bracken County, KY.

As a youth, he worked on the farm along with his siblings raising gardens, livestock and other farm products of that time. He attended Bracken County Schools. After high school, Mr. Sharp joined the Navy in 1951. He was deployed during the Korean War, he was involved in the occupation of Japan, and was witness to the testing of the Atom and Hydrogen bomb in Malaysia.

Home from the Navy, Mr. Sharp was introduced to Anna M. Staggs. It was a match made in heaven and they married at Lenoxburg Baptist Church on March 24, 1956, recently celebrating their 56th year of marriage. He became a father of four beautiful daughters, as he would say, Anna Sharp Elliott, Charlotte Sharp Warren, Linda Sharp Potts, and Denia Sharp Stoops. He often said, "The five of you ( his wife and children) are the best thing I ever did."

Mr. Sharp spent a great deal of his time witnessing for God at many places across Kentucky. He took pride in being a Gideon, helping place bibles in the hands of those who may need them. He is a former member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Carrollton, former member of the Prestonville Church and a member of the Family Worship Center in Carrollton. Over the years, Mr. Sharp (Ronald) enjoyed fishing, camping, tradeshows, flea markets, and anything outdoors. In his past time, he enjoyed a good book, mostly westerns, working on cars or trading them, woodworking, and telling stories about his family and Navy days. His favorite past time was cooking pancakes for his grandchildren.

He retired from Roberts and Hudson Tire Company of Carrollton and Florence, KY., after 25 years of employment. He was then the owner of S & S used furniture in Prestonville, KY.

His parents Harry and Ardenia Sharp of Bracken County precede him in death, as well as his siblings, Jane Sharp Colbert, Billy Sharp, and James Sharp. Steven Colbert, his nephew, and many other will be awaiting him at heaven's gates.
