Ronald J. Welch

Ronald J. Welch, from Carrollton, Kentucky, died on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at StoryPoint Senior Living in Union, KY.  He was born on July 15, 1939, in Crothersville, Indiana, the son of the late Robert Lee Welch and Emma Lewellyn Welch.

He was a 1958 graduate of Carrollton High School and served in the Kentucky National Guard for eight years.  Ron spent over 50 years as a master barber in his shop in Carrollton, Kentucky.  Due to his long career as a barber Ron gave haircuts to three generations of men in their families.  He would also go to the county jail to give men a haircut before their court appearances.  When he was not barbering, he kept busy raising tobacco on his family farm, selling prefabricated homes, and performing magic tricks for his younger customers.

Ron is survived by his two sons, Ronald (Jodie) Welch of Union, Kentucky, and Shane (Dawn) Welch of Smithfield, Kentucky, a grandson, Kevin Welch of Florence, Kentucky, a granddauaghter, Sara Welch of Smithfield, Kentucky, one brother, Eddie Welch of Florence, Kentucky and one sister, Linda Welch of Carrollton, Kentucky.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Robert Welch, Jr., Donald Welch, and William Welch and one sister, Doris Welch Bott.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Rusty Bennettt officiating the service and a Eulogy given by Dawn Welch.  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the funeral home.  Interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Welch, Eddie Marksberry, Bobby Welch, Billy Welch, Todd Welch and Cody Welch.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Jacobs, James Breeden and Wally Albert.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
