Sandford Elliott “Bud” Skaggs, 77, of Turners Station, KY, died on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born on December 14, 1942 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, the son of the late John Elliott Perry and Rose Bell (Underwood) Skaggs Perry. Bud retired as an Equipment Operator in the Coal Yard of Kentucky Utilities Ghent Generating Station in Ghent, KY, was a retired Dairy Farmer and a tree trimmer in his younger years.
Bud loved to cook and was happiest when feeding his family and friends. He enjoyed raising chickens and flowers, loved to do carpentry and woodworking. Bud also had a love for horses, especially trail riding and contest riding, even teaching of his children and grandchildren to ride competitively. Spending time with his family, grandkids and his dog, Flea and all of his animals were a treasure to Bud. He was an avid U.K. Basketball fan.
He will be sorely missed by his wife: Brenda Yvonne (Richmond) Skaggs of Turners Station, KY, a daughter; Rhonda Sue (Rob) Riley of Campbellsburg, KY, two sons; Gilbert Cleveland “Tooter” (Andrea) Skaggs of Bedford, KY, and Kevin Michael Skaggs (companion, Amanda Stewart) of Turners Station, KY, a sister; Troye Phelps of Milton, KY, three brothers; Robert C. “Bob” Perry of Turners Station, KY, Rev. Elliott “Junior” Perry of Bedford, IN, Rev. Ray Perry of Louisville, KY, eight grandchildren; Darra Richelle McCarty of Georgetown, KY, Lonnie Benjamin Crutcher of Ponte Vedra, FL, Zachary Elliott Crutcher of Indianapolis, IN, Nathaniel Andrew Skaggs of Whiteland, IN, Cody Garland Skaggs of Turners Station, KY, Desiree Yvonne Skaggs of Turners Station, KY, Charles Daiden Clay of Turners Station, KY, and Olivia Lee Josephine Dixon of Turners Station, KY, and a great grandchild; Thomas Edward Newsome, Jr., of Georgetown, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Mary Aaron, Virgie Halmess and Margaret Martin, three brothers; Edward Perry, Paul Perry and Raymond Perry
Funeral Services will be private due to the current Kentucky Governor’s Mandate COVID-19 restrictions.
The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
