Sara Harris

Sara Kathryn Harris, 85, of Frankfort, KY., formerly of Carrollton, KY., died on Saturday evening at the Carroll County Regional Hospital in Carrollton.

She was born in Carroll County, KY., the daughter of the late Luther and Katie Jett Fothergill. Sara was a gifted and talented Artist teaching painting and also serving as a judge for Art shows throughout the local communities. She was elected in 1969 to serve on the Central Executive Committee of the Kentucky State Democratic Party. Sara was a member of the Carrollton Christian Church. She was a 1938 graduate of Carroll County High School.

Sara was united in marriage to Thoams Oscar Harris on February 12, 1941.

Survivors include two sons; James Thomas Harris of Lexington, KY., and David George Harris of Paris, KY., brothers; Joe Fothergill of Milwaukee, WI., and Jim Fothergill of Carrollton, KY., five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1993 and one son; Luther Owen Harris in 2005.

The Rev. Pat Butcher will officiate the service on Tuesday at the Carrollton Christian Church.

Memorial Gifts may be given to the Carrollton Chritian Church or the Paul Sawyier Library Foundation.

The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
