Shirley Clifton

Shirley M. Clifton, 81, of Carrollton, KY., died on Friday morning, June 27, 2008 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.

She was born on July 31, 1926 in Sparta, Gallatin County, KY., the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie (Maxwell) Snow. She married Leslie Carl Clifton on March 3, 1943. Shirley was a housewife and a member of Poplar Ridge Baptist Church in Owen County, KY. She enjoyed cross stitching in her spare time.

She is survived by six daughters; Shirley Richmond of Bedford, KY., Marsha Bradshaw of Bedford, KY., Wanda Hewitt of Carrollton, KY., Terry Hunter of Carrollton, KY., Jennie Mauser of China and Mary Guillion of Tampa, FL., seven son's survive; Russell Clifton of Bedford, KY., Danny Clifton of Hoschton, GA., Ben Clifton of Carrollton, KY., Leslie J. Clifton of Carrollton, KY., Perry Clifton of Carrollton, KY., Dennis Clifton of Union, KY., and Charles Clifton of Acworth, GA., a sister survives; Wilma Kearns of Bright, IN., thirty one grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is her parents, husband; Leslie Carl Clifton who died in 1995, a daughter; Jackie Clifton, a granddaughter;Angela Bradshaw, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Haynes officiating the service. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, KY.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts were given to the American Arthritis Foundation.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
