Stelma Johnson, 95, of Ghent, Gallatin County, KY, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at her residence in Ghent, KY.
She was born on February 29, 1924 in Ethridge, Gallatin County, KY, the daughter of the late Addison and Harriet Fields Bladen. She was a housewife and had retired from Grote Industries in Madison, IN, after seventeen years of service, having worked in the Molding Department.
She was a member of the Jordan Baptist Church in Sanders, KY. On her farm she loved to work in her garden, just most recently this summer. She was a avid bird watcher and she loved to hike, she could go hiking better than some of the younger hikers. She loved to play Scrabble and Yahtzee.
She will be missed by her two daughters; Linda Lee Swihart of Pendleton, KY, and Debra Jean Jiles of Ghent, KY, a step-son; Charles “Buck” Johnson of Carrollton, KY, a brother; Frank Bladen of Ghent, KY, seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Charles Lee Johnson on April 1, 2004, her daughter, Rita Jo Barr on March 12, 2002, three sisters; Edna Bladen, Ruth Hamilton and Della Miller, four brothers; John, Herb, Ronald & Charles Bladen and one granddaughter.
Arrangements are entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
