Thelma Rose Readnour, 94, of Turners Station, KY, died on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Baptist Health La Grange.
She was born on March 1, 1927, in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY, the daughter of the late Fred G. Ashcraft and Annie B. Kemper Ashcraft. Thelma had worked for Fannie Farmers Candy in Cincinnati, OH, for over 29 years as the store manager. She never drove a car and would catch a bus in Covington, KY, and ride to the candy store for 29 years, Thelma was a very dedicated employee all her years working there. Through her relationships with her customers, she was able to meet a lot of famous people over the years that visited the candy store.
After her retirement she moved to Turners Station to be near her sister and became a member of Turners Station Baptist Church. Thelma enjoyed traveling with her sister to various tourist stops throughout the adjoining states. She enjoyed reading in her spare time.
Thelma will be missed by her three sisters, Norma Jean Reed of Hodgenville, KY, Barbara Louise Brasfield of Madison, IN, and Joyce Ann Jones of Turners Station, KY, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harvey Readnour on September 22, 1998, five sisters, Ruth Cook, Goldie Ashcraft, Virginia Reeves, Ruth Maureen Duncan and Margie Fay Moore, four brothers, Charles Coy, John Junior Ashcraft, Orville Ashcraft and Paul Ashcraft.
