Thurman R. "Roach" Cottrell, 70, of Carrollton, KY., died on Friday evening, July 3, 2009 at 7:55 P.M. at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Prestonville, Carroll County, KY on July 29, 1938 to the late Herman and Effie Harsin Cottrell. Roach was retired from the Kentucky Utilities Ghent Generating Station where he was a shift supervisor in the coal yard. He was a Baptist and an avid golfer and bass fisherman. He formerly served with the Carrollton National Guard Unit.He is survived by two daughters: Sandra Graham (Kerry) of Carrollton, KY and Nicole Dunn (Mike) of Carrollton, KY, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Fredia Beverly Cottrell, a daughter: Debbie Jones, two sisters: Jean Eversole and Lilly Marie Reed, a brother: Donnie Cottrell, and a grandson: Tommy W. "Shooney" Jones, Jr.The Rev. Andrew Oakley officiated services on July 7, 2009 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, KY.The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
