Velma Acree

Velma M. Acree, 91, of Carrollton, KY., died on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at The King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, IN.

She was born on July 9, 1915 in Carroll County, KY., the daughter of the late Wine Gullion and Anna Marsha (Fleming)Henry. Velma was a retired restaurant owner and a member of the Carrollton Wesleyan Church. She served as Secretary for the Missionary Society and Director of Children's Church. Velma was very involved in many other activities of the church as well.

Survivors include a daughter; Constance Jean Giles of Carrollton, KY., a sister; Mary Shepherd of Owensboro, KY., and one grand daughter; Stephanie Jill Bailey of Midway, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Walter Acree, Jr. in October of 1989, two sisters; Alma Taylor and Mable Graham, and one brother; Herman Henry.

The Rev. Jonathan Haynes officiated the service on Saturday morning, May 5, 2007 at the Carrollton Wesleyan Church. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

Memorial Gifts may be given to the Carrollton Wesleyan Church in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements were entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.

5:00 - 8:00 P.M. - Friday - May 4, 2007 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. - Saturday - May 5, 2007 until time of service at the church.

11:00 A.M. - Saturday - May 5, 2007 at the Carrollton Wesleyan Church.
