Velma Smith

Velma Jo Smith, 93, of Carrollton, KY, died on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at the Signature Healthcare of Carrollton.

She was born on October 2, 1927, in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY, the daughter of the late Orville Anderson and Corine Coghill Anderson.  Velma had worked for several years at the former Brim’s Furniture as a bookkeeper.  She was a member of the Carrollton Wesleyan Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher and Church Treasurer.  Velma enjoyed reading Novels written by Kentucky Authors and her Bible.  She enjoyed quilting in her spare time.

Velma is survived by son, Joe Smith and his wife, Connie of Carrollton, KY, seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ben W. Smith, Sr., two daughters, Nannette Smith Strickland and Sharlyn Smith, a son, Ben W. Smith, Jr., her brother, Elmer Anderson, a grandson, Jason Kirby Dixon, and a great granddaughter, Madison Kaylynn “Maddie” Dawson.
