Virginia Banks

Virginia Gentry Banks, 97, of Columbus, IN, formerly of Carrollton, KY, died on Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Four Seasons Health Care Center in Columbus, IN.

She was born on September 2, 1915 in Jackson County, KY, the daughter of the late Terah Gentry and Mary Carter Gentry. She was the former owner with her husband of Buddy's Men's Shop in Carrollton. She had worked at Hallmark Gift Shop in Madison, IN, and Columbus, IN. She had also worked at the Gem Store in Carrollton, where she met her husband in 1934 and she had worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Rouse in Carrollton. She was a member of the Carrollton Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the Port William Historical Society and the Kentucky Democratic Women.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Charles) Banks Hainz of Columbus, IN, and a son, William "Bill" Roger (Linda) Banks of Centerville, OH, two grandchildren, Colleen (Todd) Hainz Koesters of Plain City, OH, and William "Bill" Chandler Banks of Chicago, IL, two great grandchildren, Zachary Koesters and Patrick Koesters, both of Plain City, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Kenneth Lamb, her husband, Bernard "Buddy" Long Banks on May 5, 1999.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Carrollton Christian Church with the Rev. Melvin LeCompte officiating the service. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home and from 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Carrollton Christian Church. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home and from 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Carrollton Christian Church.
