Virginia Aileen Lowry Harris, age 91, died Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Little Rock, Bourbon County, KY on October 23, 1925 to Homer Hubert and Victoria Isabella Booth Lowry. Her mother died young and she was raised by her sister Juanita moving to Russellville, KY. Virginia graduated from Midway School and later attended Transylvania College on a singing and dramatic reading scholarship. She married Paul V. Harris in Louisville, KY on March 18, 1944 and later moved to Florida where she worked as a bank teller in Coral Gables, FL and was a bookkeeper for Smathers — Thompson Law Offices in Miami, FL. In addition to being a homemaker and housewife, Virginia was the co-owner with her husband Paul of the Western Auto Store in Carrollton from 1973 — 1982 and was a member of the Carrollton Christian Church.
Survivors include her son; Matthew Alexander (Cathy) Harris of Lexington, KY, her former daughter-in-law; Elo-ly (Corey) Bailey of Murphy, NC, a sister; Joyce Witt of Lexington, KY, a brother; Ramon (Nita) Lowry of Lexington, KY, six grandchildren; Kimberly (Barret) Epling — Marietta, GA, Cole Alexander Harris, Ailee Harris, Ashton Harris, Caden Harris and Caleb Harris all of Lexington, KY and two great grandchildren; Corey Epling and Cayley Epling both of Lexington, KY. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Paul V. Harris (Oct. 2001), a son; Paul Keith Harris (April 1981) sisters; Viola Gudgell, Juanita Messer and Hazel Lowry, three brothers; Homer Lowry, Virgil Lowry and Roger Lowry.
