Virginia Lee Shields, age 80, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Gallatin County, KY on May 11, 1934 to the late William Carlisle and Myrtle Welch Owen. She was a member of the Ghent Christian Church,a homemaker, a Kentucky Colonel and Past President of the Woman's Democratic Club.
Virginia is survived by a daughter; Denise Gay (Ronnie) Culver of Carrollton, KY, 2 sons - Randall Owen "Randy" (Angie) Shields of Ghent, KY and Barry Lee (Alma) Shields of Ghent, KY, 2 sisters; Leta Woods of Louisville, KY and Rena Reed of Ghent, KY, 2 brothers; William C. Owen of Verona, KY and Harold B. Owen of Melbourne, FL, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Buell S. Shields, a sister; Nona Faye Beach and 3 brothers; William B. Owen, Roger T. Owen and Raymond B. Owen.
The Rev. Dan Brennan officiated services on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Burial was in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Ghent, KY.
