William Dale "Billy" Welch, Sr.

William Dale “Billy” Welch, Sr., age 74, of Carrollton, KY, died on Monday, July 17, 2023, in Carrollton.

He was born on January 26, 1949, in Ghent, Carroll County, KY, the son of the late Robert Lee Welch and Emma (Lewellyn) Welch. Billy, as most people knew him, had served his Country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War Era. He had formerly owned and operated the Railroad Inn in Carrollton for many years and had worked for Welch’s Wholesale Warehouse in Carrollton in sales and delivery.

Billy was a member of the American Legion Post #41 in Carrollton, enjoyed riding motorcycles, served as the former President of the Kentucky Bikers Association, loved drag racing, having owned many automobiles over the years to race, and enjoyed watching University of Kentucky Basketball.

He will be missed by his three sons, Bill (Jennie) Welch, Jr. of Lexington, KY; Tad Welch and Cody Welch, both of Carrollton, KY; a daughter, Sedayah Welch of Carrollton, KY; two brothers, Ron Welch of Carrollton, KY; and Eddie Welch of Florence, KY; a sister, Linda Welch of Carrollton, KY; and a granddaughter, Kara Lee Welch of Lexington, KY.

Billy was preceded by his parents, two brothers, Robert “Bobby” Welch and Donald Welch, and a sister, Doris Welch Bott.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 6:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Friday, July 21, 2023. Military Honors will be presented by the Carrollton American Legion Post #41 at the funeral home.
