William Lee Craig

William Lee "Bill" Craig, 88, of Ghent, KY, died on Friday evening, July 19, 2013 wsith his family at his side at the Gallatin Health Care Center in Warsaw, KY.

He was born on November 16, 1924 on Carroll/Gallatin County, KY, line the son of the late Albert Gallatin Craig and Jennie Lee Hance Craig. He graduated from Gallatin County High School, and attended the University of Kentucky, was an U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. and a member of the Ghent Christian Church.

Bill farmed and was co-owner of Davis & Craig Marathon Fuel Distributor, where he delivered fuel oil and gasoline to farmers in 3 counties. After retirement he was a substitute Rural Mail Carrier out of the Ghent and Carrollton Post Office.

Bill was a volunteer and Captain of the Ghent Fire Department, Commissioner of the Town of Ghent also serving as Mayor for several terms. He was very involved in the Tadmor Masonic Lodge #108 and was caretaker of the Ghent Masonic Cemetery for decades. He played the guitar, banjo and sang, passing along his love for music to his children. He was a loving, even tempered husband and father who worked hard to provide for his family and he could fix anything.

He will be missed by his wife, Mary Lynn Scott Craig of almost 66 years, they married on September 28, 1947, two daughters, Vicki Lynn (Mike) Harmon of Mesa, AZ, and Retta (Darrell) Lykins of Ghent, KY, two sons, Bill (Julee) Craig of Nazareth, PA, and Ed (JoAnn) Craig of Smiths Grove, KY, siblings, a brother, Albert Craig, Jr. of Burlington, KY, and a sister, Inda Davis of Ghent, KY, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life Memorial Service was held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ghent Baptist Church with Bro. Graham Reynolds officiating the service.

Funeral

A Celebration Of Life Memorial Service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ghent Baptist Church with Bro. Graham Reynolds officiating the service.

Interment

Ghent Masonic Cemetery - Ghent, KY.
